A Guru’s Blessing, A Teacher’s Journey — our story began with a humble yet powerful moment when our founder was offered an opportunity by her guru to teach in Mandya, 40 km from Mysuru. With her child by her side, she traveled twice a week, moved by her deep love for light music and teaching.
Encouraged by the warmth and response in Mandya, she began teaching from a small garage at her home in Mysuru. It wasn’t a fancy institution, but it was rich in passion, dedication, and the belief that music should reach everyone.
Today, that passion has grown into a full-fledged music school based in Saraswathipuram, Mysuru. It is a space where Kannada light music is cherished, where tradition meets inspiration, and where every student’s musical journey is valued and nurtured.

Dr. Sunitha Chandrakumar
Born into a traditional joint family, Sunitha naturally found herself immersed in music and spirituality from an early age. Alongside her regular school education and extracurricular activities, she actively participated in all forms of household engagements that included singing games, devotional verses for children, chanting, and the daily evening bhajans held at home.
Her formal journey into classical dance began at the age of eight under the tutelage of Vidushi Sharada. She later continued her training for nearly 10 years under the guidance of Vidwan Shri Madhava Rao and Vidwan Shri Vishnudas, simultaneously pursuing her classical music education. She passed her Junior Music Examination under the mentorship of Vidushi Smt. Vijayalakshmi.
Sunitha also took part in various school and college competitions, winning several accolades both individually and as part of groups.
After her marriage, around the year 1992, her musical interests gradually shifted towards light music. She then pursued light music training for 12 continuous years under the guidance of Smt. H.R. Leelavathi and Shri S.G. Raghuram. During this period, she also undertook two years of training in Carnatic classical music under Vidushi Smt. H.N. Rajalakshmi and Vidwan Shri C. Vishwanath.

As an institute is dedicated to preserving Kannada music tradition and currently offers comprehensive education to 450+ students. Specialising in light music, the school has nurtured musicians and released over 50 albums since its inception in 2003.

It wasn’t just an assignment; it was a calling. With her young child by her side, she would take the train twice a week, traveling to Mandya, driven by an unshakable love for music and teaching.
This journey was not just about distance; it was about dedication, about keeping alive the essence of light music in the hearts of young learners.

Today, what started as a single opportunity has blossomed into a full-fledged music school with an exclusive presence in Saraswathipuram, Mysuru. Our school is more than just a place to learn music—it is a space where tradition meets passion, where students find their voices, and where Kannada light music is nurtured with dedication and love.
As we continue to grow, our mission remains the same: to bring music into more lives, to keep Kannada light music alive, and to inspire generations to come.
